Cleaning Up the Chicago River

On Monday September 16th the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago held a groundbreaking ceremony in honor of two new disinfection facilities—at the O’Brien Wastewater Reclamation Plant and Calumet Wastewater Reclamation Plant.  Using UV technology and chlorination, these facilities will significantly reduce un-disinfected water flowing into the Chicago River and Calumet River.  Honored speakers and attendees were in high spirits to celebrate the economic and environmental gains from the project.
